Prefix/Suffix

Introduction

1D barcodes could contain digits, letters and symbols, etc. 2D barcodes could contain more data, such

as Chinese characters and other multi-byte characters. However, in reality, they do not and should not

have all the information we need, such as barcode type, date and time of scan, delimiter, and so on, in

order to keep the code short and ﬂexible.

Preﬁx and Sufﬁx are how to fulﬁll the needs mentioned above. They can be added, removed, and

modiﬁed while the original barcode message is still in tact.

Barcode processing sequences:

1. Intercept barcode message

2. Add Preﬁx/Sufﬁx

3. Pack

4. Terminate with Terminal and transmit
